THE White Rose Winter Music Festival opens for its second year on Thursday, November 17 at the magnificent Harewood House with A Night at the Opera.

With over 80 artists in the orchestra and chorus alone, A Night at the Opera will certainly raise the roof on the opening night with its repertoire of passionate arias from the world’s best loved operas.

Anna Cunningham of Ultimate Music Entertainment, the Festival’s music director, said:

“The programme for A Night at the Opera is really, really exciting. We’ve got a 44-piece orchestra and 60 people in the chorus with a terrific cast of professional soloists who are all the very best in their field, so I know it will look and sound fantastic!”

Another exciting feature on the show programme will be the debut performance of Yorkshire’s Got Young Talent winners Emma Hart and Ravi Patel, who battled through the live auditions in June to win the competition, which supports the children’s cancer charity Candlelighters.

The two 17-year-olds will be performing arias from some of the world’s greatest acclaimed operas, alongside a professional cast which includes opera singers; Hannah Mason, Joanne Dexter, Nick Sales and John Cunningham.

Emma said: “This next term is very exciting for me, ending in a crescendo with the White Rose Winter Music Festival, I will have also performed with my school singing at Westminster Abbey, the Royal Albert Hall and in China at the Forbidden City in Beijing!..”

The programme for A Night at the Opera will present a selection of the finest and most loved arias from the World’s greatest acclaimed operas including; Carmen, Rigoletto, Madame Butterfly, Aida, La Boheme and many more, accompanied by the Northern Camerata Orchestra and the Bradford Festival Chorus.

Nick Sales, professional Tenor soloist in A Night at the Opera, began his soyal Opera and Heritage Opera has taken him all over the world singing for Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras.

Nick will be singing alongside English National Opera and Opera North Bass Baritone, John Cunningham, who in the light music field appears regularly on Television and Radio as well as performing principal roles in major opera houses including The Royal Albert Hall and Royal Opera House.

Joanne Dexter and Hannah Mason will be singing soprano.

Leeds-born Joanne is famous for her impressive versatility, which has landed her many lead roles with Opera North, English Touring Opera and Pavilion Opera.
