Sharow Photographic Competition is facing closure because it lacks enough administrative support.
The annual event held in June has helped raise £12,000 for charities since it was started by David Page in 2006 and attracts entries from around the world.
He said in order to continue, the competition needs to recruit at least three volunteers – an assistant to the chairman, a treasurer and an assistant webmaster.
Mr Page added the contest needed to attract additional sponsorship.
He said: “The competition has attracted generous sponsorship in the past for which we are extremely grateful and some is in place for the 2012 competition as well. But we really need to secure more committed sponsorship to help us go forward.
“We can offer plenty in return – our website attracted around 1.2 million hits from 55,000 visits worldwide last year, so there’s plenty of promotional opportunity there.”
Anyone interested in discussing voluntary support or sponsorship is urged to contact David Page at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01765 601514.
