Northallerton Carnival has drawn record crowds to the town for a day of fun.

Thousands of people flooded the High Street for the event which helped raise money for 13 local charities on Sunday, July 10.

The day was opened by the Mayor of Northallerton, Coun John Coulson, who watched performances from local groups including Brompton Primary School Choir, Planet Dance, the Sisters of Sigston belly dancers, a Zumba troupe, and youth band Purple Mafia.

Carnival chairman and town councillor David Blades said: “The event was a real community affair. The high street was packed – it was the best carnival yet.”

As well as fairground rides, amusements and a circus skills workshop, there were also stalls for a number of local charities.
