Nearly 500 people have attended the Ripshock youth arts event held in Ripon.
Taking place at Ripon Youth Centre – based at Outwood Academy Ripon – the event was organised by North Yorkshire County Council’s Connecting Youth Culture Unit.
Visitors had the chance to learn new art forms such as banner painting, drumming, circus skills and graffiti art as well as play on a mobile skate park to practise BMX bike riding and scooter tricks.
There were also performances by local young musicians across two stages with the main stage hosting a variety of local rock bands including Purple Mafia, Summer City and Your Illuminations playing alongside headline performances by Rosie and International and DJ duo Utah Saints.
Area youth worker Julie Spink said: “It was great to see so many local young people participating in a variety of workshops. Many of the bands that practise at Ripon youth centre’s rehearsal room had the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of large crowds.”
Coun Bernard Bateman, who also attended the event, added: “I was very pleased to have the opportunity to attend Ripshock, which I did with my wife. We both enjoyed it greatly and our congratulations go to all concerned in its organisation and thanks to all our staff who gave up their Saturday to make it possible.”
