Artwork by some of the UK’s finest contemporary painters, printmakers and photographers is about to go on display at Ripon Cathedral.
The venue will be hosting the Great North Art Show from September 1 -23 which will feature 250 pieces of work in a broad range of styles from established to emerging professionals.
There will also be plenty of other activities surrounding this year’s show – including an art trail throughout the city of and an artist-led workshop programme.
“We are delighted at the quality of artists taking part in the 2012 Great North Art Show,” said management committee member Wendy Orme.
“The exhibition and art trail, with its photography, etchings and prints, aims to create an opportunity to enjoy and apprecate a superb selection of high quality art in a fantastic setting.”
Featured artists include: Claire Milner who creates glittering portraits from thousands of tiny Swarovski crystals; Malcolm Scott who has paintings in the Saatchi collection; Ed Kluz, a printmaker, illustrator, painter and designer who was raised in the Yorkshire Dales and has recently completed commissions for the V&A, Faber and John Murray publishers; to newer talents such as Nat Quinn, winner of the first ever New Lights Art Prize for northern painters in 2011.
