A new art gallery on The Stray in Harrogate is to be officially opened by Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones, on Saturday.
Owners Nicola and Lucinda Buscall say their Buscall Gallery will be a dynamic exhibiting space introducing an intriguing range of contemporary art from around the UK.
The gallery’s location at 29 Park Parade, overlooking The Stray towards Christ Church, is designed to have a welcoming atmosphere.
The artists’ work shown will encompass traditional and modern movements and styles in the form of painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, etchings and more.
Nicola and Lucinda both have had a lifelong interest and experience in art.
Nicola developed her career in training and accreditation and Lucinda is a fine art graduate from London.
Nicola said: “Ten years ago I opened Aspects of Art, the art gallery in Leyburn and found that many artists welcomed creative feedback. By interpreting the needs of the market, I was able to guide the artists towards becoming more commercially viable.
“Since I moved to Harrogate a few years ago I have been looking for the right premises to develop this idea on a larger scale, and this has now come to fruition.”
After leaving Giggleswick School, Lucinda went on to continue her studies in fine art at University of the Arts, London.
She said: “I wanted make a career in the art world as an artist and curator, so this opportunity is a dream come true for me.”
Along with her role in this new venture, Lucinda is also an exciting modern artist typifying the young talent which the Buscall Gallery aims to encourage and highlight.
At the official opening, visitors will be able to relax and have a coffee if they wish, and discussions between those interested in the artwork, and with the artists themselves, are positively encouraged. It is envisaged that talks and events will be arranged on topics of most interest.
Lucinda said: ““We are very excited by the prospects. We can foresee the gallery becoming a focal point for all those with an interest in art.”
