Masham’s famous sheep fair is set to go ahead this weekend, with organisers looking forward to a strong year.
Entries numbers so far have been encouraging, the committee said, with 140 entries across 22 different breeds.
The fair will kick off at 10am on Saturday, with judging for the sheep show starting at 10.45pm.
Throughout the weekend visitors can enjoy sheep racing, sheepdog demonstrations, a fleece sale, and handspinning demonstrations, and at St Mary’s Church the theme for this year’s display will be “Floury Harvest”.
Bands will march alongside the children’s Bishop Blaize procession, which commemorates the patron saint of woolcombers, with Northallerton Silver Band taking part on Saturday and Reeth Brass Band on Sunday.
Proceeds from the Sheep Fair will go to two Yorkshire charities - Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Herriot Hospice Homecare.
Local artist, Rob Blades has designed a new commemorative tea towel for the event.
