Awards for projects in and around Ripon will be handed out at Ripon Civic Society’s Annual Awards ceremony on Thursday, October 2 – after a two-year gap since the last event.

The awards, which include prizes for good design and craftsmanship, will be presented at a ceremony in Ripon’s Spa Hotel.

David Winpenny, chairman of Ripon Civic Society, said: “Our annual awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the year.

“Last year we considered there were too few projects for us to hold the awards. This year there are many more so it promises to be a good evening in which we recognise the companies, groups and individuals who have contributed in a positive and sensitive way to the city.”

The Civic Society recognises good practice in a range of categories, including new buildings and restoration, environmental improvement, craftsmanship and the best shop front.

Projects shortlisted for the awards this year have been completed within the last two years and as well as category winner prizes up for grabs, projects can also be awarded Highly Commended and Commended status.

The event is open to anyone to attend and starts at 7.30pm, with wine served from 7pm.
