LAST year they were Desperate to be Doris and now the highly acclaimed LipService is back on tour with its insightful and rather bonkers look at three Yorkshire-based 19th century novelists, the Brontë sisters.
LipService brings its cult classic Withering Looks set on the bleak Yorkshire moors to Harrogate Theatre on Friday, June 8.
One of the most firmly established touring companies in the UK, the new show presents a not-so-authentic look at the lives and works of the Bronte sisters - well, two of them actually, as Anne’s popped out for a cup of sugar.
The comic duo move effortlessly from frock to frock coat as familiar characters are brought to life with rib-tickling brilliance.
Award-winners Sue Ryder and Maggie Fox are dab hands at writing and performing, with more than 16 original comedies and Radio 4 series under their collective belt.
The Manchester-based duo began their collaboration in 1985, and have since received numerous awards touring the UK and abroad.
This show has added more trophies to the cabinet by way of the Manchester Evening News gong for Best Fringe Theatre and also picked up a comedy award at the Edinburgh Festival.
l Tickets for Harrogate Theatres spring season are available now and can be booked securely online at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk or through the Harrogate Box Office on 01423 502 116.
