Dales artist Alister Colley has joined the ranks of the likes of Jack Vettriano and Beryl Cook by winning the art industry’s ‘Oscars’ at a ceremony in Harrogate.

Taking place at the Old Swan Hotel, the event saw Alister crowned the Best Selling UK Artist 2015 at the Fine Art Trade Guild Awards.

It was success at the sixth attempt for Alister who had been a finalist an amazing five times before.

Past recipients of the award include Jack Vettriano, Mckenzie Thorpe, Doug Hyde and Kerry Darlington, all of whom have been launched into the global art scene.

Alister said: “I am totally overwhelmed that my painting has afforded me such a wonderful position.”

A graduate of Leeds Beckett University with a degree in art and design only a short decade ago, Alister’s rise has been swift.

Based at Pateley Bridge’s King Street complex of offices and workshops, Alister’s company Zeitgeist Fine Art Ltd has gained a reputation for combining in a fun way the sometimes conflicting needs of art and commerce.

Last year Alister was chosen as the official Grand Depart Tour de France last year, producing the first-ever official Grand Depart painting.

His latest accolade should ensure his success hits a whole new level.

Harrogate firm Tennants Auctioneers are the latest to link up with the talented Alister and Zeitgeist Fine Art.

The Garden Rooms at Tennants is set to present the Zeitgeist Yorkshire Artists Exhibition from September 2-16.

The event will feature Alister’s most recent paintings, as well as new work by young local artists Izzy Hodge, Kate Hunt and Joseph Hayton, whom Zeitgeist represent.
