The market square in Ripon was packed out with crowds when the district celebrated Armed Forces Day in Ripon.
Following a concert featuring Ripon City Band and Dishforth Military Wives Choir the previous evening at Holy Trinity Church, Saturday featured six hours of events on the square including stalls and military displays.
One of the highlights of the day was a fly-past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight featuring a Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire in the afternoon.
Other activities included Operation Ripon Horn, a combined services Cadets competition, brass band music, results from a schools’ painting competition, drill displays, and a Drumhead Service by Ripon Cathedral featuring the standards of various veterans’ orgaisations.
