Fountains Abbey has hosted experts from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow as the programme filmed at the World Heritage Site.

Long queues formed as hundreds of people from across the site came to the site in hopes of finding hidden treasures among their belongings.

Sisters Jean Hayward and Jill Soper from Northallerton struck lucky with a pair of portraits of their great-great-great-grandparents valued at £2000, while Ripon man David Lydall brought along a photograph album given by speed record breaker Donald Campbell to Frank Lydall, David’s father, who was a timer at the Windermere speed trials.
