THE village of Wath near Ripon held its annual Street Fair at the weekend.

The event took place on Saturday, July 14, and was opened by celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager, pictured judging the fancy dress.

Organisers have deemed the day a great success after the event raised some £4,300 for the village’s St Mary’s Church. Many stalls did brisk business. and the large crowd in attendance enjoyed performances by the Briggate Morris Dancers.

There was also a vintage tractor parade, dog show and mini-farm which proved popular attractions plus a new photographic competition which received nearly 40 entries.

Richard Graham, a member of the organising committee, said: “Many people worked very hard to make the 2012 Street Fair a success and they are to be congratulated on creating a fantastic community event. The money raised will help towards the cost of updating the church’s electrical and heating systems.”
