Staff from Foundation Resourcing in Ripon recreate the famous 1930s image of New York construction workers at lunchtime.

They may not be perched hundreds of feet above a New York street, but staff from one Ripon company have turned their lunchtime into a tribute to one of the 20th century’s most famous images.

Workers from Foundation Resourcing, based at Highfield Business Park on Kearsley Road, have created their own version of ‘Lunch Atop a Skyscraper’, albeit slightly closer to the ground than the original 1932 photograph.

The picture will feature on a 2012 calendar to be sold in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice alongside versions of 11 other famous images including The Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover, England’s 1966 World Cup triumph, a traffic-stopping Wonderbra advert, and the well-known ‘Tennis Girl’ poster.

The Foundation Resourcing staff set out on the calendar project as part of Saint Michael’s Hospice’s ‘You’re Inspired’ initiative, which challenges businesses to raise money for the charity in October.

Emma Hagues, a director at the company, said: “One of our team – Leigh Naylor – had the great idea of re-shooting some of the 20th century’s most iconic photos but this time with her Foundation colleagues in the starring roles.

“There is a different image for each month with the original photo also shown alongside the new one.

“This is a one-off design and a great opportunity to buy a stunning calendar with a difference and help a good cause as well.”

The calendars cost £10 and can be bought from Philip Hall or Tutto Bello in Ripon city centre, by visiting www.justgiving.co.uk/foundationresourcing and donating online and then emailing contact details to admin@foundationresourcing.co.uk, or by sending a cheque payable to St Michael’s Hospice to Leigh Naylor, Foundation Resourcing, Unit 6, Highfield Business Park, Kearsley Road, Ripon, HG4 2RN.
