Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate has won a £200, 000 grant from the Arts Council.

In this era of tightened belts it’s a major coup for the gallery and Harrogate Borough Council which runs it.

The money will go to the Access All Areas project which aims to increase access to the council’s fine art and museum collections.

In total, only 12 museums in Yorkshire were awarded funding through the Renaissance Strategic support fund.
