Who can stop Great Preston? Leaders in control with one game left

Kirk Deighton got back on the victory trail against Wetherby, but Great Preston showed no sign of being knocked off their perch.

They beat Garforth Parish Church on Saturday to stay top with one week left to decide who lifts championship silverware this year.

M Fisher (62) topscored to see Garforth post 157-8, but J Marston (49) and Lee Russell (33) batted Preston over the line at 159-8.

Wetherby racked up 171-9, bettered by Deighton at 174-5.

Scarcroft did enough to see off Bilton in Ainsty, Cameron Williams blitzing 94 against the bowling of B White (5-35) and G Hutchinson (4-22).

Damian Aston took 3-19 and G Hussain (3-38) to skittle Bilton for 123.

Relegated Scholes enjoyed victory over Barwick in Elmet, accruing 192-6 including 45 not out from C Roberts.

Ian Jenkins took 4-20.

Barwick reached 170 in reply, G Bettison topscoring with 60 not out.

Shadwell saw off Walton by seven wickets, Walton amassing 189-7 through Q Mahmood (38) and M Hussain (37).

Shadwell achieved 190-3 in reply, C McGrath hitting 64 and G Lane 63 not out.

Old Mods inflicted a five-wicket reverse upon St Chad’s Broomfield.

H Johnson’s 43 helped Chad’s make 117, but S Swain’s 40 steered Mods to 125-5 in reply.

Division Two’s leaders Sicklinghall were beaten by South Milford to the tune of five wickets.

T Ryszkowski’s 56 was the highlight of Sicklinghall’s 132 total, while L White picked up 4-32 and J Kain 3-25.D White hit 63 to fire Milford to 136-5 and six points in reply.

Thorner Mexborough were also beaten, by Saxton.

S Hills (44no) and D Crampton (42no) guided Saxton to 166-6, against the bowling of M Ali (4-44). Hills then plundered 5-22 to oust Thorner for 128.

Kirk Deighton A crashed out against Church Fenton, dismisse for just 68 by S O’Brien (3-3), R Love (3-19) and J Stephenson (3-22).

Fenton were home and hosed at 69.

Hillam and Monk Fryston powered to victory over Kirk Hammerton.

L Frankland set the tone for victory with a superb knock of 134 not out, backed up by 86 from A Joynson which carried Hillam to 260-2.

Joynson took 3-27 and E Frankland 3-13 as Hammerton were bowled out for 87.

Crossgates did enough to beat Sherburn Eversley, M Hatherley (75) and S Vishnumohan (50no) fashioning a total of 206.

Vishnumohan then plundered a terrific 7-24 to skittle Sherburn for 155.

Whixley were felled by Old Leos, J Whitham (39) and J Richardson (350 the mainstays of Whixley’s 137-9.

A Guest hit 38 to power Leos over the line at 141-7 in reply.
