Town and Rail’ suffer Boxing Day defeats

HARROGATE Town suffered a Boxing Day battering at home going down 4-0 to local rivals Guiseley.

It could have been a different story had Will Turl put away Town’s best chances in an even first half.

But the striker fluffed his lines as Simon Weaver suffered an afternoon to forget.

The visitors went into the break 1-0 to the good thanks to Jamie Clarke deflected shot.

Town had chances to get back into the match, but second half strikes by Chris Senior (2) and Michael Burns, sealed the win.

In the Evo-Stick First Division North, HARROGATE RAILWAY were beaten 1-0 at home to Durham City.

Both teams will be looking for a comeback when they return to action on New Year’s Day.
