Ouseburn stay one point ahead of title rivals Spofforth with two weeks left

Ouseburn remain in the driving seat for Theakston Nidderdale League honours this year, but still only by a point.

Jamie Bryant captured 5-36 to limit opponents Dacre Banks to 130, before Sam Parker’s knock of 77 steered Ouseburn to eight-wicket success at 132-2.

Spofforth meanwhile keep up the pressure after crushing champions Hampsthwaite by 77 runs.

Pat Gannon (69) and Jon Ross (52) led Spofforth up to 218-8 batting first. Chris Vayonitis collected 4-48 and then hit an undefeated 46 but Hamp’ were ousted at 141.

Jack Joy inspired Goldsborough to a seven-wicket win over Bishop Thornton.

Luke Forge (47) and J Chandler (65) guided Thornton to 200 against the bowling of Graham Shorter (4-59) and Ben Mackrill (3-40).

But a sparkling unbeaten 113 by Joy guided Goldsborough to 203-3 in reply.

Masham staged a win over Helperby, Andy Smith (83) and Chris Smith (33) batted Masham to 202-9 against Alistair Darnell (4-44).

Craig Broadley (4-23) and Scott Williams (4-45) reduced Helperby to 113 all out in reply.

Blubberhouses inflicted a crushing blow on Darley, whose chances of avoiding relegation are all but gone.

Sajid Khan crashed 106 to lead Blubbs to 271-9, before Dawod Waqas plundered an awesome 7-28 to skittle Darley for 159. Rob Hainsworth made 43.

Killinghall powered past Alne, Richard Danby (46) and Dan Atkinson (42) firing ‘Hall to 190.

Alne were dismissed for 118 in reply, Danby collecting 3-2 while Andy Thompson and Nick Richardson bagged three apience.

Promoted Pannal showed the class which is taking them back to the top flight in a high-scoring Division Two game with Galphay and Winskley.

Andy Ellis (89), Chris Wilson (73) and Jonathan Smailes (58) delivered a swashbuckling effort to see Pannal post 351-5.

Trent Grabham (88) led a valiant Galphay fightback but Galphay were pegged back at 237-9. Graham Fish hooked 3-51.

Birstwith’s Craig Armitage produced a swashbuckling 130 which inspired his third-placed team to victory over Sharow, and ramped up their own promotion push.

Reece Ezard bagged 5-53 but Birstwith had raced to 270. Connor Ryan (77) led the reply but Andy Heard’s 4-52 limited Sharow to 183.

Second-placed Burton Leonard were felled by Studley Royal, a blow with two games remaining as their lead over Birstwith was cut to five points.

Sam Crompton (61) and Matt Rangeley (35) led Burton to 190-9 against the bowling of Tom Hixon (5-32).

But Studley pulled clear at 194-7, Lewis Day (42) the pick of the batsmen.

Pateley Bridge saw off Knaresborough Forest, Chris Langley (45) and Matt Edglin (39) leading them to 241-8 against David Skaith (5-50).

Skaith then produced 64, but despite Nick Jones adding 69, Forest were chopped down at 216.

Newby Hall cantered to eight-wicket success over Ripley, who reached 178 with Rob Miller (40) topscoring.

Dave Henstock took 4-34 and then made 37 with Newby’s Dave Wallis (46), Grant Leivers (39no) and Steve Griffin (42no) steering them to victory at 180-2.
