Four Garstang players have been given a boost thanks to a sponsorship deal with Swedish table tennis company Stiga and their UK agent Thorntons Table Tennis.

The girls Amy Wells, Kelly Southward, Megan Dillon and Alice Dillon will receive clothing and equipment in return for promoting the brand.

This Sunday sees all four of the girls in action at the Blackpool 2 Star before training commences for the next big tournament the East Midlands 4 Star at Grantham in January.

Amy Wells received more good news as she was named player of the month for October, due to her hard work she has risen considerably in the table tennis rankings, this coupled with her recent tournament wins made her an easy choice for the club. Owen Bendall took the award for November for his commitment to training and his determination and attitude in competitions, Mike Charters was the final recipient of 2012 winning the December award for his amazing 2012 unbeaten record in the Lancaster & Morecambe league.

In the Preston League Premier Division Garstang A ended their losing streak thanks to a 5-5 draw with Astra C, sub Luke McGrath was the star for the Garstang side winning all his three matches on his first outing for the team.

In Division 1 Garstang B slipped to a 6-4 defeat to Lyons Lane A, captain Mike Armishaw led the way winning all his matches, sub Stuart Southward added the final point.

In the Lancaster & Morecambe League Premier Division Garstang A claimed a 24-11 win over Trimpell Dragons, Luke McGrath and Stuart Southward claimed three wins each and then teamed up to take the doubles, Kelly Southward added the final win.

Garstang B fell to a 24-11 defeat to Trimpell City and still sit second to bottom in the division, sub Mike Charters was the surprise of the night claiming two victories for the home side, Dave Holroyd added the other win. In Division 1 Garstang C climbed the table to 4th place thanks to a 21-17 win over Ripley Cyclones, captain Kevin Aughton, Joseph Peat and Thomas Gorst all claimed two victories.
