Boroughbridge based event rider James Sommerville is adding the final touches to his preparations for one of Britain’s top equestrian competitions.

The Welcome to Yorkshire Bramham International Horse Trials take place this weekend near Wetherby.

James will ride Freddie Too in the CIC*** competition and is one of Yorkshire’s most promising eventing talents at the age of 23. He made his debut at Bramham last year achieving 23rd place on Pipe Band. He said: “It’s my favourite, right here on our doorstep in Yorkshire. Stunning parkland set against a country house backdrop will just never be beaten.”

2010 was the Yorkshireman’s most successful to date in which he completed over 100 Cross Country rounds taking home the winning rosette 13 times. James had three separate wins at Allerton Park Horse Trials last September over a course designed by Ian Stark, Bramham course designer.
