Ripon teenage diver Jack Laugher has claimed his first international senior medal by clinching bronze at the Russia Spring Swallows Grand Prix.

Laugher produced a sublime new personal best of 484.20 in the 3m springboard final to finish third, 0.1 ahead of Xie Siyi in fourth.

Russia’s Ilia Zakharov stormed to a home victory in Kazan with 536.75 points ahead of China’s Zhou Xin on 487.00.

Laugher had earlier made swift progress through the rounds, easing through the heats and semi-finals in second place.

The Olympian scored more than 80 points on five out of his six dives with only his fifth dive scoring a mere 61.20.

The 18-year-old tweeted: “First ever international senior medal! Bronze!!! A couple of points of 2nd and 0.1 in front of 4th! Couldn’t be happier.

“And a new personal best and international personal best too!”
