'No light at the end of the tunnel' for Ripon Rugby

RIPON Rugby Club's first team manager Jim Buckley admits there is 'no light at the end of the tunnel' at the moment for his side as they try to cope with the winter of discontent.

Tomorrow's trip to promotion rivals Knottingley was still on at the time of going to press, but Ripon could have more chance of tackling snowmen than rugby players after the return of the big freeze .

Ripon were due to play their first match of 2010 against West Leeds last Saturday but that too was postponed due to the weather.

"There's no light at the end of the tunnel," he said.

"The only positive thing is we've been able to train indoors, keep the lads fit.

"The only good thing I suppose is everyone's in the same boat.

"We'll be hoping Saturday's game gets the go-ahead but that's very unlikely. Even if the snow clears there's still frost, it just means we're going to have a backlog of fixtures.

"The club have organised a tour in April and if the fixtures run untill then we could be in trouble."
