Junior Harriers finish Autumn races
THE junior section of Harrogate Harriers competed in the last of the West Yorkshire Cross-County series of four races being held this autumn.
The competition involved around a dozen running clubs from West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire competing in various age groups.
A muddy and hilly parkland course in Wakefield proved the most challenging course of this year.
The U-15 Girls team again led the way for the Harriers. They were placed fifth team, led home by Molly Webster in fifth individual place. She was followed by strong performances from Charlotte Simister and Rhiannon Lyon to finish in 23rd and 32nd places respectively.
The U-15 girls finished 4th team in the overall season standings, with Molly achieving an excellent fifth and Rhiannon a creditable 27th in the individual standings, based upon their three best runs in the series. The U-13 girls managed 7th team place, with Millie Gray maintaining her consistently strong form to finish in 24th with Helen Bowes close behind her in 32nd place.
Amy Cartledge put in a really brave debut run for the Harriers to complete the scoring team in 45th place. This secured seventh team placing on the day.
The U-13 Girls finished sixth team in the overall season standings, with Samantha Baker-Jones securing 21st place, followed by Millie in 26th and Helen 46th in the individual standings.
Amy Warrington led home our U-11 Girls in 37th place, closely followed by Heidi Goddard in 38th and Ashley Farrar in 40th. They were 8th team on the day.
This capped a great debut season for the girls. Amy and Ashley finished 36th and 37th respectively in the overall individual standings.
The U-11 boys team did likewise, typified by Oliver Earl who was determined to run for the team, in spite of feeling poorly, finishing 37th on the day. Seb Christie enjoyed another strong run to finish in ninth and Kian Robinson followed him home in 26th place.
Consequently, Seb was placed a superb seventh overall in the individual standings. Kian finished 21st, Jake Crawley in 30th and Oliver in 34th places it proved great debut season for the U-11 Boys.
The Harriers now look forward to returning to Wakefield on Saturday, January 7 to compete in the Yorkshire County Championships race.
