Harrogate Town eased through to the next round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, beating Vauxhall Motors 3-1 away from home.

Simon Weaver’s troops were in the ascendancy after 41 minutes, when Tom Platt found the net, heading in a Dave Merris corner.

Vauxhall levelled the tie via Dave Rutter when Town failed to clear a corner three minutes into the second half.

But Platt struck again only five minutes later to put Town ahead once again, firing in another Merris corner.

Paul Beesley rounded off the afternoon with half an hour still to go, chipping the ‘keeper from the edge of the area, as Town moved comfortably through to the next stage.

Town play Vauxhall Motors at Wetherby Road this Saturday, in the Blue Square North.

Meantime HARROGATE RAILWAY got back on track, beating Salford City 2-0 at home in the Evo Stik First Division North.

Second half goals in the 52nd and 61st minutes by Liam Hardy, on loan from Harrogate Town, and Daniel Hull handed Railway all three points.

Railway are in Doodsun Cup action on Tuesday night, away at Sheffield FC.

Elsewhere, in the NCEL Premier, TADCASTER ALBION beat Worksop Parramore 2-1, while in Division One KNARESBOROUGH TOWN earned a 1-0 win at Shirebrook Town.
