Football: Railway sack manager Danby
23rd November 2002. Harrogate Railway's Nigel Danby.
HARROGATE Railway FC have sacked manager Nigel Danby, after a string of poor results.
Assistant coaches Mick Norbury and Steve Davey have also left the Evo-Stik First Division North club.
Danby confirmed to the Advertiser today that the club’s committee gave him his marching orders on Monday night.
“I got a call on Monday from Mike Sunley telling me their decision,” he said.
“I’m disappointed but results haven’t been great.”
According to the Railway fans’ forum, Alan Parkes has since taken over as manager.
The Station View side have suffered a torrid season so far, with numerous heavy defeats leaving them second from bottom and in serious danger of relegation.
Saturday’s 4-0 reverse at home to Woodley Sports proved one defeat too many, culminating in Danby’s departure.
