Football: FA Cup replay off at Harrogate Town

Harrogate Town have had to postpone tonight’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay against Hyde, after the Wetherby Road pitch failed a pitch inspection on Tuesday afternoon.
Simon Weaver’s troops drew 1-1 away at Conference side Hyde on Saturday, and were hopeful of claiming a place in the first round proper away at Torquay United on November 3.
But the pitch at the CNG Stadium has been deemed unplayable once again.
Only a week ago, the league match against Bishop’s Stortford was postponed for a third time, because of the surface.
A statement on Town’s official website said: “Harrogate Town AFC are very disappointed that the game has been called off, but have to abide with the FA judgement.
“Our groundstaff have worked really hard over the last week and the new drainage system has been working overtime to cope with the volume of water thrown at it.
“However, again we have to concede that the weather has beaten us again!”
They will try again on Tuesday October 30, the FA Cup taking precedence over the West Riding County Cup second round tie at Ossett Albion.
