The decision over Harrogate Pythons’ future at Claro Road has been delayed until the end of the season.
Harrogate members were due to vote on whether the Pythons would remain part of the club at a Special General Meeting on Tuesday night.
But the matter was struck off the agenda two hours before and the future of the Yorkshire Three side placed in the hands of a a working party.
Pythons then withdrew the vote of no confidence planned against Gate chairman James Smithies “as an act of good faith”.
“We are back to square one,” said Pythons spokesman Neil Summersall.
Pythons drew 27-3 at Northallerton on Saturday.
