Harrogate Town’s impressive pre-season stepped up a gear on Tuesday night, as they beat visitors Bradford City 2-1 in front of nearly 800 supporters at the CNG.
The League One side, who were promoted at the end of last season, featured a host of youngsters and several first-teamers including Ricky Ravenhill, Jason Kennedy, Michael Nelson, Kyel Reid and Alan Connell.
They also welcomed back six foot seven defender Luke Oliver, who was forced to sit out last season through an Achilles injury.
But they were hit for six as Town romped into a 1-0 lead courtesy of Adam Nowakowski, who beat Bradford’s keeper after latching on to a Chris Hall ball following a throw-in from Leigh Franks in the fifth minute
City pulled it back to 1-1 nine minute before the break, when right back Matt Bloomer slipped and striker Louis Swain set up Nathan Curtis to beat Craig MacGillivray with a left-footed shot at the far post.
But Town regained the lead just 60 seconds later, when Chris Hall provided Ashley Worsfold with a great ball he flicked in at the near post.
Town are next in pre-season action away at Ossett Albion tonight, before this Saturday’s hosting of a development side from Hull City.
