HARROGATE Town and Harrogate Railway had away days to forget in their respective domestic competitions.

Simon Weaver’s men suffered a 5-2 loss at Altrincham in Blue Square North.

Rail, meanwhile, were thrashed 5-1 at Evo-Stick First Division North bottom side Cammell Laird.

At Moss Lane, Town were looking good to get something out of the contest after a Paul Brayson brace either side of half-time pulled the score back to 2-2.

Jake Picton had a goal disallowed for the away side but a strong finish to the match by Alty saw them take the points.

Rail’ will look for an immediate response when they return to league action away at Skelmersdale next Saturday.

Nige Danby’s side were drawn back into the relegation battle after another poor showing on the road.

Laird’s 5-1 victory comes just a week after Rail’ shipped seven away at AFC Fylde.
