Kirk Deighton Rangers showed their might in Harrogate & District Premier as they toppled table toppers Harlow Hill 1-0 at Barr Field on Saturday.
Ollie Aspy scored the game’s only goal before Hill sent a second-half penalty wide.
Goalkeeper Jonty Smith also made an “outstanding” save to protect the three points. The win moved Rangers six points behind the leaders, with three games in hand.
“It was a top performance that gives us momentum,” said boss Dan Marshall.
“If we had taken our chances we would have won comfortably.
“But it made for a good game.”
Russ Colling misses this Saturday’s home game against Clifford.
Graham Cowgill replaces him and Ben Lawrence also returns after a hernia injury. Rangers have only conceded two goals at home in their six matches this season.
But Marshall anticipates Saturday’s fifth-placed opponents to have fire-power to harm that record.
“It’s a local derby and that will also add spice,” he said.
Meanwhile, seventh-placed Wetherby A beat Pannal Sports 3-1 in an ill-disciplined game, thanks to goals from Rick Houlton (2) and Anthony Walsh.
