Appleton stuns in London

There were some superb results for Ripon Runners at the London Marathon. Mike Appleton was first home in a stunning time of 2.40.37, to finish an amazing 168th overall out of thousands.

Dave Jelley finished in a superb time of 2.55.41, Ray Raper 3.29.03, John Ward 3.42.43, Christine Orr 3.47.20, Mel Dutka 4.23.44, Andy Matheson 4.29.23, and Lena Conlin 5.02.44. John Bull obtained the qualifying time he needed for the upcoming ‘Comrades Marathon’ by completing the Lochaber Marathon in 4.58.13.

The final two events of the Northen Runner Winter Fell Race league have taken place. Martin Gabriel was first Ripon Runner to finish the Blakey Blitz in 102.11, followed by Fred Clapham in 105.00 and Leah Horner in 148.00.

The Gisborough Moors Race concluded the series, over hilly terrain including Roseberry topping and Little Roseberry.

Gabriel was first Ripon home in 106.44, followed by Clapham 109.44, Nigel Bower 124.01, Paul Sorby 139.54, Lisa ‘having a birthday treat’ Sorby 139.55, Leah Horner 150.54.In the league results Gabriel finished fifth in his age category, Clapham tenth, Nigel Bower sixth and Leah Horner an impressive third in her first season on the fells.
