NEW Ripon captain Steve Moss-Blundell believes "exciting times" are just around the corner at the club this season as the Mallorie Park revolution continues to take shape.
The new skipper is relishing his new role after being officially unveiled at Ripon’s AGM last Wednesday.
Now he’s throwing himself into the role head on as he targets a successful season on the pitch.
“It’s exciting times at the club at the mom
ent,” he said.
“Everyone is working hard and the morale is good. Everyone is talking about the new season and there’s a lot of interest around the club and the members.
“This season is more a development season but we’re ambitious and we want to finish as high up in the table as we can.
“We want to be getting to April next year and not be in the same situation we have been in the last two years. If we are safe by Christmas then of course we want to compete for the top two.
“We’re all very excited at the moment and looking forward to the start of the season.”
Before their Yorkshire Two campaign kicks-off Moss-Blundell knows the side must put the hard yards into their pre season training in order to be ready.
The side will be training two times a week, on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 6.30pm onwards throughout the summer.
“We trained last week and it was good,” added Moss-Blundell.
“Everyone was knackered but then we all had a chat after the game and it was good.
“But we want to train hard, it’s important we are ready for the start of the season.”
The new skipper is also looking forward to playing under new head coach Simon Middleton and assistant Colin Clark.
“I’ve had a talk with Simon and he’s outlined his plans for the new season,” he added.
“I’ve worked with Colin before when I was at York so I know what a good coach he is too.”
