A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of a 29-year-old woman in West Tanfield on Thursday evening.
Robert Byrom, 46, of The Bungalow, Main Street, West Tanfield appeared before Harrogate magistrates on Monday charged with the murder of Rebecca Kowal.

Police were called to the home they shared on Main Street by an ambulance crew shortly before 10pm, on Thursday, where 29-year-old Miss Kowal was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed both had children from previous relationships.

Byrom was sent to Leeds Crown Court for trial. Defence solicitor Geoffrey Rogers did not make any application for bail.
