FORMER health care staff in North Yorkshire are being asked for their memories as part of celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the NHS.
Ahead of the anniversary in July, North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust (PCT) is asking ex-staff to share their memories of working for the service.

A special section of the trust's website (www.nyypct.nhs.uk) is being set up for people to p
ost their personal memories. Existing members of staff and people who used to work in the NHS are being encouraged to send in a short written piece (50 to 100 words) starting with, "I remember when..."

These personal accounts will be posted on the website, alongside old photographs and other memorabilia. It is envisaged that the material used for this 60th birthday webpage will be a useful resource in the future.

PCT chief executive, Janet Soo-Chung, said: "It will be fantastic to hear the memories and personal experiences of people who have worked in the NHS in North Yorkshire at any point over the past 60 years.

"The way we care for patients has moved on so much, as has the way health services are managed. But throughout the last 60 years the key to the success of the NHS has been the dedication and hard work of staff who care for people every single day. Let's use the 60th anniversary to celebrate our greatest resource."

She added: "The PCT would like to hear from anyone who has worked for the NHS at any point over the last 60 years. You can get in touch by email, by phone or by letter - we'd love to hear about your personal experiences or any interesting stories you have to tell."

Former members of staff can add their memories to the PCT's NHS 60 celebration webpage either by email: haveyoursay@nyypct.nhs.uk, by calling 01423 859694 or by writing to: NHS 60 Website, c/o Communications Team, The Hamlet, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, HG2 8RE.
