The fair starts at 1pm and is the annual fundraiser for the village’s St Mary’s Church. It has grown to become one of the most popular summer events in the district with many stalls and other attractions.

New for 2008 will be a children’s mini-farm as well as a bouncy castle. Ripon entertainer Simon Shaw will also be there stilt-walking and juggling to keep the crowd entertained.

Stalls will include accessories, bric a brac, tombola, raffle, cakes, Have a Go Golf, toiletries, hog roast, ice cream, produce, cakes, toys and games, books, CDs and many more.

Richard Graham, a member of the organising committee, said: “I am delighted that Chris is coming to open the street fair and we look forward to giving him a warm Wath welcome.

“The committee is working hard to ensure the fair is bigger and better than ever.”

The fundraising kicks off with a disco on Friday, July 11, at the George Country Inn, starting at 7.30pm; tickets £5.
