A SONG celebrating the history and tradition of Ripon's Hornblower will be released on CD this weekend.
George Pickles, the current Ripon Hornblower, together with local singer and guitarist Barry Sellers, will be on the market square on Saturday launching the song, entitled The Wakeman of Ripon.

The CD also features narration by Mr Pickles to background music on the history of the Setting of the Watch, a tradition carried out by the Wakemen in the city for the past 1122 years.

The launch begins at 11.30am and runs until 1pm, during which time Barry will give live performances of the song and both he and George will be autographing copies bought on the day.

Proceeds from sales of the CD will go to local charities and it is hoped the event will play a part in promoting the city.
