THE Mayor of Ripon is to host a grand charity auction next week which promises a wealth of sporting memorabilia for bidders.
Signed Manchester United shirts and a rugby ball featuring autographs of all the Newcastle Falcons, including 2003 World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson, are just some of the lots to come under the hammer at the Magdalen's pub.

Proceeds from the auction will go towards four organisations, the YMCA, Citizen's Advice, Diving For All and Ripon Amateur Swimming Club.

The Mayor of Ripon, Coun Sid Hawke said: "There's such a good selection of things to be auctioned off. It's going to be a big one with something like 100 items to auctioned off and all for a good cause."

The auction will also feature 'flights' in an RAF simulator, a free-fall parachute descent, sub-aqua introduction and one-to-one swimming lessons.

A barbecue and disco are all part of the fun which takes place from 1.30pm on Saturday, July 19 at the Magdalen's Pub.
