FIVE local groups and organisations have benefited from the latest cash awards through the Harrogate Borough Council Arts and Heritage Grant Scheme.
Now in its third year, the awards' aim is to help community groups within the district to develop new and innovative projects.
Among the 12 group receiving cash at a ceremony held in the Royal Pump Room Museum at Harrogate on Wednesday were:
Kirkby Malzeard Mechanics' Institute - £200 towards the cost of display boards for craft workshops
Ripon Rotary Club Environment Committee - £200 towards new daffodil planting and creating new displays
Alderman T F Spence Trustees - £200 towards raising awareness of the Quarry Moor Local Nature Reserve in Ripon
Masham Arts Festival - £1,000 towards promotional materials and their arts festival
Discovering Ripon Cathedral Community Project - £600 towards the creation of a street theatre show about St Wilfrid.
Coun Pat Jones, Cabinet Member for Cultural Services, who made the awards, said: "These are small grants but are valuable to the very many and willing volunteers who do so much to create opportunity for local people and visitors."
