AN art gallery in Ripon is holding a Valentine's raffle to raise money for a community health team which looks after patients diagnosed with terminal diseases.
Shops and businesses throughout the area have contributed prizes towards the raffle being run by Rustic Charms, on North Street, which is raising money for the Palliative Care Team based at Harrogate District Hospital.

The money will go towards the help it provides for patients and their families in Ripon and Harrogate, and for further training for its nurses.

'vital services'

"The team offers round-the-clock care and support and provides many other vital at-home services. I hope the raffle will help publicise the important work they do," said gallery owner Sarah Holliday.

She said Rustic Charms had received "a very positive response" with many local shops and businesses donating prizes, including a four-course Valentine's meal-for-two at the Water Rat pub, a Valentine's bouquet voucher from Flower Design, and a bottle of champagne from the Co-op on South Grange Road.

Valentine's heart

"Those buying tickets can also write a message on a handmade heart and put it on the Valentine's heart hanging in the shop window which will allow loved ones to see the message," added Miss Holliday.

Rustic Charms opened three months ago with the aim of providing a platform for local artisans to showcase a diverse range of handmade products. It also produces bespoke furniture, traditional handmade arts and crafts and greetings cards from workshops on the premises.

  • Tickets for the Valentine's raffle cost £2 each and the draw takes place at the gallery on Wednesday, February 10, at 4pm.
