Our readers love their pets.

We know this, because over 250 pet portraits were submitted to our competition earlier this year, in the build-up to the town’s first dog show.

Now, we have teamed up with Pretty Paws dog grooming and dog day care to give readers the chance to have a picture taken with their pet by one of our photographers.

If you live in the Harrogate district, get a group of friends or family together, and our photographer will come to you and get a shot of you and your pet.

This is not just for dogs, either.

Cats, fish, snakes and a horse featured in our competition, and all entries will be welcomed.

We will organise one picture a week, so all you have to do is get in touch with your details, or nominate someone who would be willing to take part, and we will get in touch to organise the best time to take the photo.

The photograph will appear in our series of newspapers, covering Harrogate, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge, Ripon and Wetherby.

Harrogate Advertiser series editor Jean MacQuarrie said: “We were overwhelmed by the number of readers who sent in pictures of their much loved pets when we asked for pictures recently, so we decided to make it a weekly feature in our newspapers.

“Every week our photographers will be visiting a different pet owner in Harrogate district to feature the best loved pets in the area.”

“Our pet pictures competition, which ran in the build-up to the Harrogate dog show, was a great success.

“Readers like to see pictures of their pets in print.

“Now they have the opportunity to have a photo taken with their pet by one of our very own photographers to feature each week in our new Pet of the Week feature.”

Pretty Paws is a dog grooming and day care centre based at Saltergate Business Park.
