Bishopton Veterinary Group in Ripon has started 2015 off with two significant landmarks for its feline patients.

The practice has been awarded the Cat Friendly Clinic Gold Award by International Cat Care and has treated its 300th case of hyperthyroidism (excessive thyroid hormone levels) in its leading radio-iodine centre.

The vets have a separate cat ward with waiting area and all staff, from receptionists to vets, have been given additional training to give the best
possible care for its feline friends.

Small animal partner Ian McClive said: “We know that many cats get quite stressed coming to see the vet so we wanted to make sure we can offer the calmest experience possible to ensure they’re in the best possible health.”

Bishopton Vets also successfully treated their 300th case of hyperthyroidism (excessive thyroid hormone levels, seen in cats) at their iodine treatment centre.

The centre first opened in 2008 and is one of only a handful of places in the UK offering this gold-standard treatment.
