Ripon Lions member Helen Mackenzie along with two friends have taken the plunge and swum the length of Lake Coniston in the Lake District.

Helen, along with friends Ellie Hartas and Emma Oates, swam the 5.25 miles to raise the money for the Lions.

The trio of swimmers were given a rapturous send off and welcome back by Lions president, Eric Clark, family and the support crew.

“The determination of these three has taken us by surprise and endless early morning swims at the racecourse lake have definitely paid off,’ said Eric.

Sponsorship raised by the challenge stands at more than £1,500 and will be used in and around Ripon to benefit good causes.
