A man from Ripon has died after his motorbike was involved in a collision on the A61 near Quarry Moor in the city.
It happened about half a mile from the roundabout with Ripon bypass yesterday (Wednesday), September 18, at 7.45am.
The rider of the motorcycle, who has not been named by police, was heading towards Harrogate and had just overtaken a number of vehicles when the collision happened.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: The man’s next of kin have been informed. However, we are not yet in a position to name him.”
The road was closed to traffic for several hours while officers investigated the scene, with the road re-opening around noon.
Traffic Sgt John Lumbard, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or were travelling on the A61 at the time of the incident I urge you to contact the police straight away.”
