Cyclist dies after crash on B6265 near Ripon

A 42-year-old man has died after his bicycle and a car collided on the the B6265 Ripon-Boroughbridge road.

The crash happened near the Black a Moor inn at Bridge Hewick today (Friday) at around 7.30am.

The cyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance and a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police confirmed at 4.30pm that he had died. The force is not in a position to name the dead man.

The driver of the car, a silver Ford Mondeo, was uninjured in the collision.

The spokesman added that the road was closed while officers conducted their investigations into the collision but has since reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the force control room.
