Three friends from Northallerton will be helping the Olympic torch make its way through the streets of Hambleton and Richmond in 50 days time.
Fergus Roberts, Marc Scott and Laurence Whiteley will all carry the flame through the North before it gets to their home town.
Northallerton College student Fergus, 17 sees it on its way through Redcar on June 18. He was nominated as a torchbearer for his achievements in cross country.
The following day, June 19 the torch enters Boston Spa where both 18-year-old Marc and 20- year-old Laurence take it on his next stage.
Marc, who is also at Northallerton College, began running eight years ago and already has an impressive list of triumphs for his mountain running, road running and cross country. a 10K.
Laurence lost his right knee and half of his right shin to bone cancer six years ago.
They were replaced with titanium implants, and with intensive physiotherapy he learned to walk again. A keen swimmer, he coaches at Hambleton Leisure Centre and hopes to compete at a Paralympics in the rowing event.
