Trial for two men accused of having £2,000 of cocaine
TWO men are facing crown court trial accused of possession of a class A drug with intent to supply it to others after police seized cocaine with a street value of £2,000 when a package was thrown from a van.
Luca Basoli, 25 and Yousef Kazimi, 24, both from Birkenhead, Cheshire, appeared before Harrogate magistrates on Tuesday after being arrested on the A1 (M) close to its junction with the A59 Harrogate-York road at Allerton Park, near Knaresborough, on April 2.
Basoli pleaded not guilty to a joint charge of possession of cocaine with intent to supply it while Kazimi declined to enter any plea to the allegation. Each man is also accused of possession of cannabis.
Court chairman Andrea Seddon ruled the case was too serious to remain in magistrates’ jurisdiction and bailed both men until December 5 when it is expected they will be sent for trial at York Crown Court.
