Tour help for Martin House

MARTIN House Hospice will benefit indirectly from the Tour de France currently taking place.

Each Tour sets aside one day for the general public to cycle one of the stages. The event is called l’Etape du Jour.

It attracts over 8,000 keen bikers who cycle about 100 miles over different terrain.

Among the amateurs taking part last Sunday was Duncan Haynes of London who was raising money for Martin House.

He has relatives at Boston Spa and Church Fenton and his niece Flora visits the hospice three times a year for respite care.

Duncan’s mother, Mrs Anne Clinton, of Shropshire, said: “Duncan was riding with his wife Cathy and he texted me to say they had finished the stage. Last year he took part and did so well that he won a silver medal.”

Duncan’s website is: www.justgiving.com/Duncan-Haynes.
