Tower Open Day: St Mary's church bell tower will be open to the public on Saturday, July 24 when there will be a chance to climb the narrow spiral stone staircase to view the ringing room and see the bells above. The Bell Simulator which is used to help train the ringers will also be in action. Across the way in the Boys Sunday school, the Wombell will also be in action for visitors to have a go themselves . Pool Holiday Programme:Tadcaster's Community Swimming Pool starts its programme for the school holidays on Monday, July 26. Throughout the period there will be junior swimming courses catering for non swimmers, nearly swimmers, improvers and one to one swimming lessons. The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification course also starts on Monday and continues until Sunday, August 1. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there will be a crazy fun session from 2-3.30pm when the pool's giant gladiator inflatable run, surfboards and woggles provide the fun and excitement whilst music and bubbles add to the atmosphere. An adult must accompany children under eight and may only accompany a maximum of two under eight’s. Every weekday the pool has early swims from 7-9am and on Monday's the over 45s have use of the pool from 9-noon with public swimming between noon-8pm. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's has public swim sessions between 11.30-2pm and 5-7.30pm on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Friday's has public swimming between 9.5. Skate Park: The mobile skate park will be in operation at Tadcasters Manor Farm Youth centre every Wednesday afternoon from 4-8pm during the school holidays starting on July 28. The park is for youngsters age 11+ and admission is free, just turn up.
St Crux Fundraising: Tadcaster Methodist church's annual fundraising day at St Crux church in York takes place on Thursday, July 29 from 9-4pm. The church is the one situated at the bottom end of the Shambles. As well as serving refreshments there will also be home made cakes, books, bric a brac etc on sale and donations of items for sale may be left in a box in the promenade of Tadcaster Methodist church or should items need collecting speak to Maureen or Adrian Dixon..
Space Hop Launch: Tadcaster Library on Station Rd launch their summer reading challenge event for four to 11yr olds at the library on Monday, July 26 from 2-4pm. This is a drop in event and admission is free.
History Alive: Tadcaster Extended Services are to bring History Alive for youngsters age 8+ on July 29 and 30. The chance to find out more about modern history will be based at Tadcaster East primary school from 10-3pm each day and will include a visit to the York Cold War Bunker.
The cost for the 2 days is 25 but free to those who are eligible under the Me Too scheme.
