Students in jubilant mood after their offers of Oxbridge places
Ripon Grammar School students who have received offers of university places at Oxford and Cambridge. (S)
Ripon Grammar School is celebrating after a record number of its students received offers to study at Cambridge and Oxford Universities.
Nine students have received conditional offers to study a wide-range of subjects, while Fionnuala Morris – who has already left the school – has accepted an unconditional offer to study veterinary medicine at Cambridge from October
Those with conditional offers for Cambridge are: Siân Avery (English), Cameron McCormack (engineering)and Julia Stanyard (classics).
Students wih offers for Oxford are: Madeline Corman (chemistry), Jack Lale, Hugh McHale-Maughan and Benjamin Nabarro (all three doing philosophy, politics and economics), Georgina Sanderson (medicine) and Elizabeth Tearle (archaeology and anthropology).
Headmaster Martin Pearman said: “I am delighted for the students who have worked very hard to achieve this success.
“Competition at all the top universities is very fierce so this is a significant achievement.
“I am very grateful to the staff who have prepared students so well, and I am confident that students will achieve the necessary grades in the summer”.
