Northallerton police are appealing for information following the theft of two stone dogs in Thornton-Le-Moor .

They were taken between 7pm on Monday, April 9 and 7am on Tuesday, April 10, from the gateposts of a property in the village.

The statues are of Japanese fighting dogs, which are beige and approximately 18in tall.

PC Amy Littledyke, of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The stone dogs are of great sentimental value to the owners.

“I urge anyone who can help return the dogs to their rightful owners to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Northallerton police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Amy Littledyke.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120056751.
